At Antedotum, it’s important that all we do be supported by clinical research and scientific evidence. Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shawn Dehehri of Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, helps us achieve that goal.
While we believe wholeheartedly in the undeniable benefits of CBD, we recognize that it is an emerging science for skin health and overall wellness, and want our customers to feel safe in their choice and know that we take our efficacy and claims very seriously.
As a physician-scientist in dermatology, Dr. Shawn’s research areas include molecular/cellular biology of the skin, stem cells, epigenetics, UV protection, inflammation, pigmentation, among others and now, with Antedotum, he applies his decades of skin research experience to the field of CBD.
Through our research we concluded that high potency formulas with concentrated, pure, whole-plant CBD actives have, without question, the greatest effect on the skin. Our Founder
Our founder, Karina Perez Marconi, was raised on the island of Puerto Rico (born to a Cuban dad and Puerto Rican mom), which meant consistent sun exposure at a very early age and accumulative sun damage for the Latina’s olive skin that was already prone to discoloration. For decades, Karina was plagued by dark spots which were compounded by lingering, post-partum melasma after the birth of her daughter, Havana. Working for many years in beauty at Chanel’s New York headquarters deepened her understanding of premium skincare, but finding an antidote to her skin aliments remained elusive. When the family relocated to Aspen, Colorado, the unforgiving mountain climate - dry air, high altitude, wind, sun, cold - only intensified her skin conditions.
With Colorado being the birthplace of the American cannabis culture, CBD was plentiful and prominent and Karina, curious about its purported curative abiliites, started to sample an assortment of oils and balms. None of them smelled or looked great, but to her surprise her skin started to transform. This unexpected discovery sent her down an Alice in Wonderland research hole into the alternative CBD skincare universe. What emerged was Antedotum. Having found the one ingredient that is multi-correctional in every way, Karina wanted to share how CBD helped her achieve remarkable results in the look and feel of her skin.
