What is Nano CBD? Is it Legit or a Scam?
As the author of a book about CBD and a long-time expert in the world of supplements and herbs, there’s one thing I know for sure: Not all CBD products are created equal.
And as it currently stands, it's up to us—the consumers—to separate the good from the bad, the legit from the not-so-legit, to make sure we’re getting a high-quality product that is not only safe but actually works.
Lately, one group of CBD products has been standing out from the rest. They’re called “nano” CBD oils and they’re making major waves (and claims!) when it comes to absorption rates and efficacy. Here’s the full intel on nano CBD and why it might benefit your health.
What is nanotechnology—and what does it have to do with CBD?
You’ve probably heard the word “nanotechnology” at least once before. The nano field is new, rapidly growing, and it involves way more than just CBD. So, what is nanotechnology, really? According to a New York Times article titled Nanotechnology’s Future, “Nanotechnology involves industrial products and processes in the realm of nanometers...That is also the scale on which all living cells—and the things that nourish or kill them—operate.” In other words, it involves things that are really, really, really tiny.
Most commonly, nanotechnology is used in the context of the pharmaceutical and medical industries to help deliver compounds to our cells. It’s also been used in the beauty industry to get the ingredients in our lotions and face serums through the skin. The supplement industry is also taking advantage of nanotechnology by using specific delivery methods that protect ingredients from degradation in the digestive tract.
The pros and cons of nano CBD
When it comes to CBD, nanotechnology is being used—in extremely simple terms—to make sure the CBD you’re taking is actually getting where it needs to go. According to Cade Turland, CEO and co-founder of Hemple—an Australian-owned hemp and CBD product company that’s big on nano CBD—it’s all about speed, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness. “When you break the math down: If you have a 10 mg product of regular CBD oil, the max you’ll actually absorb into your cells is about 2 mg. But if you’re taking a nano-emulsified product, you can actually get absorption before the digestive system and as much as 8 mg to the cells.” According to Turland, nano has the potential to match the absorption rate that you get from smoking. Hemple uses an extraction system called N-Osmo™ that uses ultrasonic therapy to shrink the CBD molecules to a more cell-friendly size.
Nanotechnology is also used to make CBD, which is by nature a fat-soluble compound, more water-soluble. This means that any company, like Recess—the La Croix-cannabis hybrid everyone’s talking about—that’s infusing CBD into beverages is using some type of nanotechnology to create their products. Otherwise, the CBD would just be floating on top or sticking to the sides of the bottle or can.
Is nano CBD the future of CBD?
According to Scientific American, “By 2015, products incorporating nanotech will contribute approximately $1 trillion to the global economy. About two million workers will be employed in nanotech industries, and three times that many will have supporting jobs.” It appears that nanotechnology will play an important role in the future of the medical industry, supplement industry, and from the looks of it, the CBD industry as well—especially if consumers notice a measurable difference in the benefits of nano CBD versus regular CBD, which seems to be the trend.
That said, working on that small of a scale is a challenge, even in 2019. For context, a nanometer is about one billionth of a meter and the typical bacterium, which can’t be seen without a microscope, can be as big as 300 nanometers in size. There’s still a lot we need to learn about this emerging field—especially to justify the higher price tag of most nano products—so keep an eye out for high-quality peer-reviewed research studies that prove *just* how much better nano CBD really is.
If you’re interested in testing some nano CBD products, remember that not all nanotechnology is the same; don’t just assume that if it’s labeled “nano” it’s automatically better; still look for full- or broad-spectrum products that are third-party lab tested for quality, potency, and purity. And as always, keep an eye out for companies making claims that sound too good to be true.

I was ready to buy it had the credit card out and was going to purchase the 6 month supply, but after looking for reviews i decided Ad sounds to good to be true to me and then after reading the different comments I am thinking that was a correct assumption. I do admit lots of good comments on help with sleep and a few on energy for the day. But just a couple on help with pain and only one of those was impressive. So I am going to stick to the old advice of If it sounds to good to be true…. it usually is.
A way to really convince me (and probably a lot of others) is to let us sample it for a very low price and if it is as it claims and i would happily continue buying it at the higher price.

I have gotten Tommy’s nano blend, the taste is tangy but not bad. Fruity sorta…
I have found it does help you sleep. I was suffering from sleep deprivation From depression and stress. The nice dreams does give a rested and deeper sleep, but not where you won’t wake up if hearing something… a natural full nights sleep. Something I had not had in a long time. Good vibes may help with a little energy but have not found it to helpful with pain. Looking to try a cbd gummy with another brand to see if they work any better. Milligrams in Tommy’s are very low even in the cream and have not had much luck. (The clove smell is not so pleasing I feel) I feel the milligrams are to low to impact my pain level.
I have a severe neurological condition, severe neuropathy, muscle weakness I’m in excruciating chronic pain all the time I have spinal degenerative disease and like I mentioned broke my neck I take it every morning and every night and I do have to admit that while it doesn’t make my life peachy keen I noticed the days I forget because I’m in unbearable agony and can barely move. so for me it takes the edge off my mountain of pain
Hi, I recently purchased chongs nano cbd, I’m on day 3 of the nice dreams and good vibes, recently just been super tired body aches joint aches I guess I’m just getting a little older everyone ages differently has different metabolisms, diets, genes, blood types, medical conditions, ect…
This stuff is supposed to help us all right? Everyone wants to feel less pain in the morning waking up refreshed and energetic as we all age.
CBD is a great way to CAPITOLIZE ON ALL OF US, BECAUSE WE ALL AGE. we’ve all been looking for great products, humans have searched the entire earth in search of healing products. What I can say so far about the product is my first thought after reading chongs testimonials is I gotta by this stuff not only for me but my brother and friends and other family members that I know that can benefit from this product so I purchased a case of this stuff. I should have purchased 1 of each 1st then see the results. We’re all different and may have all different reactions to this product. My opinion anyway. Well here we are on day 3, I must say I have felt a little more energetic during the day, I’ve noticed my muscles and joints not as sore something is definitely happening with my muscles not sure what it is but I do feel stronger and I haven’t been lifting any weights. What was really weird is that this morning I woke up too early earlier than normal I’m not sure if it was because my system and battery sort of say was recharged faster and ready to go or because of something else I did notice that my heart was pounding really hard and faster than normal kind of when you walk fast or jog so I don’t know if I woke up because I couldn’t sleep and it was bothering me or because I was fully recharged and ready to go. Still trying to figure out what its doing to me but I can tell something different is definitely happening i just can’t tell what it is yet. I like the feeling stronger and muscles rejuvenating part but not the heart rate acceleration. That part is a little scary to me only because I don’t know what it is and why. I don’t like all the other ingredients part maybe I do s little confused why cbd needs to be mixed with other stuff like caffeine, I didn’t like the fact that the chong article says its all natural the you get the bottle and the ingredients say artificial flavors that was a big turn off as im against artificial flavors I feel a little cheated on that part as I made a big purchase of this stuff. But overall I’m liking some aspects of it but don’t like the artificial flavors and the accelerated heart thing. I would like to read other people’s genuine experiences too if anyone’s got any please share.
Unbelievable ,every CBD I tried Tommy Chong 100% how do I know Sweet dreams the one in this product and how it works you would have to try to get it and try it yourself I give it 10 stars and I’m 100% good I do smoke pot still I have COPD I’m in 9/11 survivor the New York City union carpenter local 608,I’ I was in the South tower my last memory was seeing the first cowboy get hit which was the north tower at 8:58 AM I am a shop steward call my local on all jobs that I go work, sometime I would put on a toolbelt will be in the shop steward you collect all of the men’s names on the job there are like 15 different trades on the job electricians duck work is a company that sprays asbestos and I have very severe, CO PD//////Chronic pulmonary disease I have a special does lining both of my lungs and eventually they will be shutting down I said can’t you take that gurgling out of my lungs he said yes but it will grow back the next day being that it’s a fungus
Of course its a bottom of some page like “US” magazine or whatever website- and says “tommy chong says throw away your CBD oil immediately”—-so if you click thru the 20 pages of fluff and other ads—(they try to make it look like a legit news article) you get to the real purpose- toss your old CBD and buy the new Tommy Chong CBD. CBD is cannabinoid oil. Quaker State is motor oil, Mazola is corn oil—-and they are what they are. Adding some high tech- space age- name- “nanotechnology”—-means zero. Thats a word they use because people do not know what it means—-it can mean anything unless a context we all understand is used. So thanks but no thanks- I will keep my OLD Cbd oil- and will pass on the “limited time offer”—to BUY some from Tommy.
I’ve tried “his” line of products and don’t feel that it does anything cbd wise. Of course all the additives are going to make the normal person tired and sleep better as you can buy those in CVS or Walgreens for a fraction of the price of “his”. I also think they are exploiting the product based on his name and fame. Where else would he be making money these days. I think the extremely long testimony is a good sales pitch, but pretty much only that. I like him too, but in these days of Covid and him not doing any movies and TV shows, he has probably sold his name to big pharma. Just my opinion. Also, this entire thread is 99% questions and no answers. Seems a little shady to me and I’m not a conspiracy theorist in any way.
I’ve had limited success with CBD in the past. Even though Tommy Chong nano CBD sounds gimmicky, I bought a Black Friday special of three bottles of Good Vibes and three bottles of Nice Dreams for $172.85 total including shipping. Hoping it will work in a mind-over-matter sort of way to help with chronic pains and ailments . I’ll check back in a month!
When buying a supplement, I’m suspicious when a bunch of extra chemicals are added to it. If Chong’s nano CBD were that great, it would have just one ingredient: nano CBD. So on that basis alone, I’m VERY suspect of this product. If I wanted Variant and Melatonin, etc. I would purchase them separately.
In my research, I found CBD Pure brand to be very good. I’ve only tried a couple brands of CBD, and this one smelled and tasted the best (kinda like fresh-cut hay, for those of you that grew up on farms) and didn’t have any extra crap. I recognize that by mentioning one brand, it will look like I sell it – all I can say is, I don’t. I’m just someone whose trying to navigate this new supplement to see if it helps reduce symptoms of Lyme Disease. For me, it does help me sleep a bit better, and I wake up w/ less pain. Also, research Terpenes, which are pure oils. ’Friend adds a couple Terpenes to his CBD oil to deal w/ chronic back pain from an accident years ago. ’Claims he has weaned himself off opiods for pain by substituting CBD w/ a couple Terpenes.
If someone knows of a better brand, please post. -Don
I never really trust anything on the internet that is on the bottom of the page. I just happened to scroll down and saw cbd and Tommy Chong and have always been a huge fan but it just sounds shady to me. I wonder if you took out the cbd and took all the other ingredients, if you would get the same results. I was under the impression that cbd is sort of a wonder drug that helps with everything he said, so why add all the other stuff. I’ve suffered from depression, anxiety, problems falling and staying asleep for almost 20 years now. The only thing that’s ever worked for my anxiety is valium, xanex, and clonazepam. My doctor cut off my prescription and said she wanted me to see the psychiatrist. This was probably the 10th one I’ve seen over the years and told me she was conservative and wouldn’t give me any of those prescriptions, knowing they are the only thing that helps, and before I even told her my real issues. I was pissed that she didn’t even let me explain. I get that they are considered a scheduled drug and addictive, but I never abused them. I told her I would take random urine tests and all that goes with it. According to my regular doctor it’s a ton of paperwork for them and I think the psychiatrist was just being lazy. Anyway, I’ve smoked marijuana most of my life but it started having negative affects the last few years. A friend of mine had a vape pen with just CBD oil and I tried it. I took one small hit and in minutes felt normal again for the first time in 20 years. I tried it once more and the same thing. I’m guessing this is a scan as I have looked for articles about this product and there is almost nothing beside this one
Read 4 complaints from the BBB on Tommy Chong CBD.
Those who contacted the BBB got a response and refund.
His line is of coarse not FDA approved and the third party testing results are not disclosed.
Beware, there is a clause that they can change the terms of the sale at any time. I purchased it and I’m hoping for the promised results but prepared for the worst.… I’ve already done my homework.
Had a server concussion in a motor vehicle accident had some luck with cbd with last concussion but no help with this one just wondering if I might stand a chance with this product.
I just received my order of Tommy Chong’s CBD Good Vibes and Nice Dreams. I am a person that never buys anything. But I read over his testimony and thought I would give it a try. I tweaked my back moving furniture 1 month ago. I usually get Accupunture. But because of COVID-19 I haven’t made an appointment. Long story short. I tried the Nice Dreams with CBD and passed out. But I woke up refreshed. My back hurt when I woke up. So I took the Good Vibes and it helped. Plus I wasn’t irritated at my dog. I took a fast acting gummy bear and that really worked. I don’t feel like I got scammed. I will let you know in 6 months. I hope everyone will try this Nano CBD Oil. Nice Dreams and Good Vibes Y’all!
I was skeptical but purchased a trail order. I’ve used it successfully to help relieve pain and stiffness during the day “Good Vibes” and stay sleep " Nice Dreams" . First dose was taken 4 days ago.
It worked well for day time muscle tension and joint pain. Sleeping much better, deeper and longer
While “nano” CBD is more bioavailable than “un-nano” CBD, the incredibly tiny amounts of even this form in Chong CBD products are unlikely to provide any benefits. Rather, it is the other ingredients in his products that the body responds to. CBD can help a large number of people with a wide variety of health issues…but if you want to see if it works for you, please try a legitimate CBD-only product first.
I’m curious too. I want to try the TC CBD but I shouldn’t spend the money. Tommy Chong’s own website said that injecting or smoking are better methods of ingesting cbd so if you people that really need it can safely smoke some I recommend it.
I recently ordered Chong cbd nice dreams shots they are pretty good make sure they come from Utah or its not the right website there are fraudsters out there. The nano cbd shots don’t taste great you can infuse them w fruit juice and they work great.I have back pain from a drunk driver hitting me yrs ago plus they help mood thats the endocannabinoid system at work.I am not a smoker but the mixture helped me rest & quelled my lower back pain
Is there anybody that sells legit shit on the market today or is it all a scam?
Just wondering if you’re going to answer any of these questions??????
Why are there no answers to the questions, so I will buy a month supply and see what results. If it works, I will become a nano cbd (tommy chong) evangelist…..
I read Tommy Chong’s Nano CBD oil too and would love to know where to go to verify his claims.
Thank you
I had triple bypass and cannabis makes the incision stop hurting. Im trying TC CBD to see if it is a good thing. Ill post again when I get it.
Worst product I’ve ever bought
Tastes so bad I couldn’t even use it
