What A Year It Has Been! Happy One Year Anniversary Svn Space!

Today is our 1-year anniversary and we couldn’t be more excited.  We launched Svn Space on Earth Day in 2018, and my, what a year it has been!

We intentionally launched on Earth Day to remind ourselves that this platform is dedicated to highlighting the Hemp plant and the many benefits from being a sustainable raw material for our earth in crisis to appearing in your beauty regime.

What started out as an educational website focused on all things Hemp has grown into so much more.  We created a beautifully curated and vetted web shop including a range of Hemp products from CBD, to beauty, to apparel, home and pet.  We’ve created our Hempanna and Pop-Up events as “shop and learn” destinations so that you can ask brands directly questions you may have, and each event is not complete without a panel conversation.  We were honored to sit on panels such as Luxury Meets Cannabis in NYC and Hightide Collective in Guam where recreational use just became legal this month. We released our first print issue in March which is available at Barnes & Noble Nationwide.  We have added beautiful and educational video content to the site to educate and elevate this plant. We have traveled near and far to attend tradeshows and keep you updated on the latest to visiting farms to see where it all begins. We have gotten work with some incredible brand partners many of which are run and owned by women.  We have SO MUCH MORE in store for you, that we’ve not even begun to scratch the surface but what an amazing year it has been.

Some pretty big things have happened in the cannabis space over the past year as well.  California (our home state and the 5th largest economy in the world) legalized adult-use marijuana which not only is opening up a lot of opportunities, it is also creating more awareness and education around this plant that has had a huge stigma attached to it for so many years.  Our neighbor to the north, Canada, also legalized adult-use cannabis nationwide, which again, is helping to make cannabis more normalized.  And the biggest news yet-at least for us-is the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill which contained a Hemp provision that essentially removed Hemp from the Controlled Substances Act making it no longer a Schedule 1 drug and solidifying it as an agricultural crop which it should have always been.  What does this mean?  It means that hemp farmers will now have access to crop insurance, more and more people will be able to take part in this growing economy, there will be more research done on the plant and all of its potential uses and we will finally have some regulation in place.

This is an exciting time to be in Hemp and we look forward to seeing what’s going to happen in the next year.  And lastly, we want to thank YOU.  Thank you for being a part of our journey and for supporting us.  We have loved all of the positive feedback and encouragement along the way.  We look forward to keeping you informed, educated and inspired by this incredible plant that can FEED YOU, HOUSE YOU, CLOTHE YOU, AND HEAL YOU!
