Svn Questions with Lex Weinstein
We are super excited to add a new contributor to the Svn Space roster. Lex Weinstein will be sharing her beautiful words with us in the very near future.
Lex is a travel writer and creative director working with the mediums of fashion, surfing, and storytelling to share not only her experiences, but the products, destinations, and spiritual mediums that promote connection and consciousness. We wanted you to know a little bit more about this incredible human, so we sent her a little speed round of questions.
1. If you could have dinner with any 3 people you wanted-living or dead-who would they be?
2. Top 3 favorite surf/travel destinations.
Sri Lanka - The waves in Sri Lanka are equally as tasty as the cuisine (both scoring a personal 10/10), and the culture is rich in ancient tradition. As someone who really thrives on travel, I love it because it's a place that will challenge you in more ways than one, from which you emerge a more confident, capable acquaintance of your truest self.
France - First of all...croissants! But honestly, between surfing in front of hundred-year-old castles and drinking wine with all meals of the day, the ways in which you can explore the French coastlines are endless. The beautiful national parks, art museums, and world class cuisine make for such a unique experience from the typical "surf, nap, repeat" trip.
Morocco - The land of sensory experience. Whether you like massive barrels or playful peelers, Morocco has infinite waves for any style surfer. It's the perfect place to cultivate creative inspiration, as the local markets are flooded with artisan crafts, spices, and home goods that leave you in absolute awe and wonderment.
3. If you were stranded on a deserted island and you could have any 5 things with you, what would they be?
My longboard, pocket knife, a book on edible/medicinal plants, a wide-brimmed hat, my ukulele.
4. If you could suggest one change that people could make in their daily lives to make the world a better place, what would that be?
Gut checks! When you wake up in the morning (before you look at your phone), take a few deep breaths -- how do you feel? Take inventory. Honestly assess what it is you need, how you're feeling and how to take necessary actions to alleviate any potential suffering. Is it a few minutes of stillness? A giant glass of water? To stretch or nurture an injury? Take care. When we listen to ourselves, we become more aware of our own needs and the needs of others, and rather than complain, we give. Rather than react, we listen. Rather than hurt, we heal. Gut checks allow us to become aware of our oneness, truly embody consciousness, and take responsibility for our impact on the planet.
